Md. Forhad Uddin
Deputy Director
 
Mr. Uddin completed his B.Sc. in Fisheries in 2002 and MS in Fisheries and Marine Resource Technology in 2005 from Khulna University, Bangladesh. He started his professional career at D.Net in 2004. Currently he is leading the project titled ‘Empowering People through Improved Access to Livelihood Information’. Mr. Uddin led the project titled ‘Community for Learning Information Communication and Knowledge (CLICK)’. He worked with a number of action research projects on ICT for development. During the research work at D.Net he has gone through a number of skills development programmes which include Outcome Mapping Methodology, which is a new tool for impact assessment of an intervention. He has developed his capacity on research management, project management, appropriate site and partner selection methodology for telecentre operation, infomediary selection methodology, livelihood content development methodology, designing training session, evaluation of development research project and statistical analysis. Mr. Uddin has a diversified research interest which includes access to information and knowledge for development, rural development and planning, conservation and management of natural resources and environmental impact.

Training and workshop

• Monitoring and Evaluation: A cluster of Access to Justice and Access to Information organized by Manusher Jonno (MJ) held at BIAM auditorium, Dhaka , Bangladesh from September 18 to 20, 2006 .

• ICT Enabled Development: South-South Exchange Traveling Workshop organized by MSSRF (MS Swaminathan Research Foundation), Chennai-India and sponsored by GKP (Global Knowledge Partnership), Malaysia held at Chennai , India from November 28 to December 05, 2005.

• Orientation Course on Human Rights, organized by Society for Environment and Community Development (SECD) & UNNAYAN (a Socio-economic Development NGO, Khulna , Bangladesh ) held at Khulna , Bangladesh from 8 to 10 January 2004.

• Basic Training, Extension and Field Orientation, organized by Fisheries Training and Extension Project (FTEP-II) DOF/DFID held at Faridpur , Bangladesh from 12 to 29 November 2001.

Additional Experiences

•  Facilitated a session on ‘Role of Information on Poverty Alleviation' in the training entitled: Ensuring Right to Information for Livelihood Development, organized by MMC (Massline Media Communication-MMC), Dhaka, Bangladesh on August 11 and August 30, 2006.

•  Slide presentation: ‘How we run our Pallitathya Kendra: A common access point in the community for getting livelihood information and services' in the workshop on “Building Telecentre Family in Bangladesh : A workshop for the social entrepreneurs and practitioners” held at RDRS, Rangpur , Bangladesh from August 27-29, 2006 .

•  Research at under graduate level: Marketing and Transportation of the Mud Crab ( Scylla serrata ) from Khulna Region of Bangladesh in 2001.

•  Research for MS program: Commercial feasibility of female mud crab ( Scylla olivacea ) culture in bamboo pens from Southwest Bangladesh in 2003-2004.

•  Research for MS program: Studies on population biology of ladyfish ( Sillaginopsis paniju) from the Sundarbans mangrove ecosystem of Bangladesh in 2003-2004.
