Development ICT Fair
January 28 - 29, 2006
Venue: BRAC Centre INN, Mohakahali, Dhaka
Time: 1000 hrs - 1700 hrs

The Development and ICT Fair will take place during January 28-29, 2006 . The inauguration of the fair will take place on January 28, Saturday at BRAC Centre Inn, Mohakhali at 0945 hrs.

The fair will demonstrate D.Net's programmes and achievements:

  1. Pallitathya: Under the programme D.Net creates livelihood contents in Bangla language, D.Net has established knowledge centers titled “Palli-tathya Kendra” in four remote areas of the country for understanding impact and creating viable model for replication. D.Net is alsbo builds capacity of local information workers. In the exhibition there will be a demonstration of all those activities of Pallitathya programme.

  2. Teletathya: Help Line for the Poor: D.Net will showcase its award winning project which brings ICTs at the door staep of poor village women in Bangladesh. This project is still continuing. D.Net plans to spread the help line country wide with a multi-stakeholder partnership model.

  3. CLP: Computer Literacy Programme (CLP) is designed to bridge the gap between urban and rural pupils in terms of computer skills. The programme was launched in 2004 with 20 schools across the country. Initiated by Voluntary Association for Bangladesh (VAB), New Jersey , USA , the programme is implemented by D.Net. There will be a show case of this program in the exhibition.

  4. Gunijan: The Gunijan initiative is for presenting through the internet the best products of our soil, who inspire us through their writings, words, scientific and artistic works and other creative pursuits. The website www.gunijan.org is bilingual. Under this programme D.Net has published a number of CDs. D.Net has initiated expansion of the programme with various activities including TV series on Gunijans, annual volumes on unijans and public programs.

  5. Bangladesh Online Research Network (BORN): The BORN is to facilitate research for economic development in Bangladesh . BORN primarily works through a portal www.bdresearch.org which is dynamic and uses database at the backend for gathering unlimited research papers on Bangladesh . Research and academic institutions at home and abroad are the collaborating partners of the BORN.

  6. Abolombon: this is a project under Pallitathya programme. This project aims to improve access for rural people using various ICT channels to the information related to human rights, legal redress, explanation of laws, availability of legal aid etc. the web based repository of legal text, explanation of laws, case references on human rights are available through website www.abolombon.org which are very useful to the human rights.
