Fund Raising Dinner
for the Computer Literacy Programme
January 29, 2006
Venue: BRAC Centre INN, Mohakhali, Dhaka
Time: 1800 hrs
You are perhaps
aware that D.Net is implementing Computer Literacy Program(CLP)
aiming at bridging the gap between urban and rural pupils in terms
of computer skills. The program was launched in 2004 with 20 schools
across the country.
The beauty of the programme is that non resident
Bangladeshis provide financial support to setup Computer Learning
Center (CLC) in the educational institutions of their choice. Local
educational institutions provide rooms, furniture and teachers for
running the programmes. D.Net sets up CLCs, provide repair and
maintenance support, develops curriculum and learning tools in
Bangla, provides training to teachers and monitors achievements.
D.Net also contributes partially in terms of financial resources.
In
2006, 25 more CLCs will be launched. However, this is not adequate.
It will take 900 years if we go at this pace. The government and
other institutions are implementing similar programme. We the civil
society, should extend our hands.
Like NRBs, you can also make a
difference with your contribution. You may like to
contribute for
a new centre or donate any amount. We would like you to
announce about your decision in the dinner.
