Training workshop on Local Content Development
Venue: D.Net Training Room, Duration: March 25 - 30, 2008.

D.Net (Development Research Network) has conducted a training workshop titled “Local Content Development” for information worker and local community people involved in content development from different telecentre practitioners and government institutes under PAN Localization project in collaboration with BRAC University.

Dr. Ananya Raihan, Executive Director, D.Net inaugurated the training. The inaugural event was attended by Mahmud Hasan, Forhad Uddin, Masudur Rahman and Masum Billah, Project coordinator of PAN localization project.

A total of 15 potential participants from different telecentre practitioners and government institutes like Agricultural Information Services, Directorate of Agricultural Marketing and Dhaka Ahsania Mission, World Net, Dhoritry Samaj Kallyan Shongha, Digonter Dak, Gandhi Ashram Trust, Shariatpur Development Society, Ghashful, Socio Economic Development Association, Participatory Advancement Social Service and Darpan Samaj Unnayan Kendro took part in the training as participant.

During the training period participants from the telecentres and government institutes sharing their experiences and give some opinion how to become an efficient content developer. They also shared their working process and obstacles the face in their working area. From this training the trainees gathered skill of report writing, writing in wikipedia, writing in joomla and blog.

The 5 days long training period applied different significant and effective strategy to improve skill for local content development and finally enrich the information bank uploading the information of local resources, cultural heritage to the Internet.

The participants express their deep commitment to ensure more service for the rural community through their dedication, hardworking in the light of the practical learning what they have achieved through this training. The closing session was followed by a certificate distribution ceremony where Sirazul Islam, Sultanur Raza, Head, CIC iniatiative GrageenPhone, Mahmud Hasan, Masum Billah were formally present.
