Mr. Humayun Kabir, honorable ambassador of Bangladesh to USA visited Computer Literacy Center at Manikgonj

Ambassador of Bangladesh to USA Mr. Humayun Kabir visited a Computer Literacy Center (CLC) at Garpara High School, Manikgonj Sadar, Manikgonj on July 30, 2008. Mr. Ajoy Kumar Bose and Mr. Masum Billah of D.Net briefed Mr. Kabir about the Computer Literacy Program. He was excited to know the activities of the CLC and appreciated the initiatives. He also added that D.Net’s model is unique and it has greater potentiality to bring in the rural people in the development process of Bangladesh connecting them with the rest of the world.


Mr. Kabir and Mr. Arastoo Khan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance browsed Jeeon-IKB, the livelihood content available at the centre and expressed their positive reaction and proposed to make it available to the community. Students from different classes are using the content for their academic purpose specially for agricultural study.

Among others Mr. Arastoo Khan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh; Mr. Ataur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Manikgonj District; Prof. Muhammad Qamrul Islam, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Economics, Saint Louis University, USA; Ms. Zinnat Ara, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Manikgonj, Mr. Ajoy Kumar Bose and Mr. Masum Billah of D.Net, members of school management committee, teachers, and students were present.

The Computer Literacy Program is a concept and guidance of Volunteers Association for Bangladesh New Jersey, USA and implemented by Development Research Network - D.Net Bangladesh.
