It is with deep sadness that we let you know that the first female Mathematician and Academician Professor Rowshan Ara Rashid, mother of Mr Anir Choudhury, founder member and Governing Body member of D.Net is no longer with us (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'oon). She passed away in the morning on July 30, 2010 at the Square Hospital. She was suffering from bronchitis.
She spent most of the time of her life for achieving knowledge and in teaching. She started her professional life as Lecturer at Eden Collage in 1967 after completing her education in 1966. Then she successfully fulfilled her duty as Vice Principal, Responsible Principal and Principal in this college. She retired in 2002 from her loyal duty. Her body had laid to rest at Mirpur Intellectuals Graveyard after Asar prayer at 30th July.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may the healing effect of time help her family bear this misfortune with the grace that she always embodied.

D.Net organised Citi Financial IT Case Competition (CFICC) Gala Event, 2009
D.Net (Development Research Network), the Pioneer Research Organisation in collaboration with CitiFoundation, Philanthropic arm of Citigroup and managed by Citibank N.A.Bangladesh organised the Gala Event of Citi Financial IT Case Competition for university students at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel Dhaka, on Tuesday, 10 November 2009 at 05:00 pm.
Mr AKM Abdul Awal Mazumder, Secretary for Ministry of Science & ICT attended as the Chief Guest and handed over the prize money and crest to the winners. CFICC is the battle of talents where students from both business and IT background are participating to develop cutting edge IT based solution for the business. The main goal of the competition is to promote a culture of business and technology development amongst the future leaders of the country based on the local needs as well as global business demands. The essence of this competition is direct participation of the stakeholders in the process of contest and this is in turn creates awareness among the stakeholders on the huge possibility of adoption of technology in the business sector.
Among them University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB-GEEKS) won the first award. Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST-WEB PIONEER) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET-SANGFROIDS) were clinched the first and second runner-up positions respectively, in the first-ever competition in such a field. The first-prize winner received $ 5,000in award money, while the first and second runners-up received $2,000 and$1,000 respectively. The fourth and fifth winners were also awarded at the programme. Dhaka University (DU-MIS) and United International University (UIU-CATALYST) finished fourth and fifth. Datasoft announced interest to finance the SUST team.
In the first two rounds of the competition, that were held in the July-August period, 20 teams from 54 teams battled their way into the second round. A 22-member jury board then selected 5teams for the final round. Participants came from 20 universities, including eight public universities and twelve private universities.
Mr Mamun Rashid, Managing Director and Citi Country Officer; Dr Ananya Raihan, Executive Director of D.Net and Professor Rafiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor of ULAB; were present at the programme.
